Training for governing board members
and principals and directors of educational institutions
TIPS AND TRICKS
Food for thought
The Regroupement des comités de parents autonomes du Québec collaborated on the development of Compulsory training for governing board members and principals and directors of educational institutions, and we wholeheartedly endorse its content!
To help you make the most of this training, here are a few tips and tricks that the RCPAQ team recommends you follow throughout the year. (Please note that not all sheets are translated, please refer to the french version if needed.)
Special moments
Training is mandatory (in french schools only) for every member new to a GB, and it’s useful for everyone, all the time! In particular, during the following moments:
At the Annual General Meeting of Parents (AGM)
- In the AGM convocation, invite parents to read the Notebook for governing board members and school administrators.
- The first item on the agenda was an introduction to Training and its main tools: the Notebook for governing board members and school administrators and the thematic sheets.

- The obligation to disclose conflicts of interest
- Operating rules for the GB (internal management, etc.)
- GB powers (Training chart for GB members)
- Presentation of the list of Training theme sheets

When preparing the GB agendas
For each item on the agenda, make it a habit to include the appropriate link to the Training for ESC members documents.
