Laval, October 21st 2026 -The regroupement des comités de parents autonomes du Québec (RCPAQ) welcomes the appointment of Joël Arseneau as Minister of Education and offers its full cooperation in order to meet together the challenges facing the Quebec school system.

We enthusiastically welcome the prospect of working with the minister and network stakeholders to find concrete solutions to current challenges, meet immediate needs and engage in in-depth reflection on the future of our schools as part of its priority mandate to organize Estates General on Education.

In preparation for these Estates General, described by the Prime Minister himself as “a major rendez-vous for parents and students”, the RCPAQ announces the launch of parentalvoice.education, a broad survey, analysis and exchange process aimed at bringing the views, concerns and aspirations of Quebec parents into this collective reflection on the future of education.

Parents experience the realities of their children’s school journeys firsthand. This hands-on experience gives them a unique perspective on the strengths, difficulties, and challenges of the school system. Their input is essential for shaping policies that truly reflect the realities of students and families. With this initiative, the RCPAQ is taking the lead in preparing a rigorous, well-documented, and representative parental contribution that captures the diversity of experiences and opinions gathered.

The process begins with an online survey, accessible at parentalvoice.education . Three options allow parents to participate according to their availability and interest: a space to freely share a comment, a quick questionnaire to express their opinion on the major issues in education, and a more in-depth survey to specify their expectations, priorities, and proposals.

The initiative also includes meetings with parents throughout Quebec, some devoted to major educational issues, others to specific realities, particularly those of students with disabilities or learning or adjustment difficulties.

In parallel, the RCPAQ will carry out an analysis and synthesis of testimonies, research, reports, memoirs and position statements that document parental perspectives, particularly on their place in their children’s schooling and their role in the education network.

This work will provide an informed, relevant, and nuanced understanding of parents’ expectations, highlighting areas of agreement while respecting the diversity of experiences, opinions, and lived realities. The RCPAQ will rigorously and convincingly represent this parental voice so that it contributes to the directions and decisions that will shape the future of education in Quebec.

The future of education is being shaped right now, and parents must help shape it. The RCPAQ invites all parents of students in Quebec to participate on parentalvoice.education and to widely share this initiative so that parents from all backgrounds can take part in this great collective endeavor.
